The Uncensored Keyboard
Background: Censorship on social media is increasing every year. These platforms, owned by private companies, are not bound by the right of free speech—which gives them the power to decide what's okay to talk about. Due to this, certain words are banned, and the use of these can result in removed content or users being shadowbanned. Leading young people to be silenced and literally deprived of their own language.
Idea: The Uncensored Keyboard—a tool designed for Gen Z to bypass the censoring algorithms. The keyboard, which can be added to your phone's keyboard list, collects codewords and emojis commonly used by young people when discussing sensitive topics online. When typing a sentence, the keyboard will flag banned words and suggest alternatives that won't get censored.
